Regular followers of Amiri Construction’s website and social media will have seen us link an external blog for our Andover College project recently. The blog has been set up by Ben Small who is 20 years old and has mild learning difficulties. After finishing school Ben attended Alton College and Farnborough College of Technology and has passed Level 1 courses in both Media Studies and Business with IT. He is now receiving funding from Surrey County Council (through their Adult Social Care budget) to help him develop his creative talent, digital knowledge and employability skills as he is interested in a career in creative media. He is being supported by Chris Lewis who has many years of working in the special needs sector with children and young adults and is also an excellent photographer.

As Ben is good at photography and also has good IT skills they are combining these in undertaking the blog for the Andover project. The aim is also to help Ben develop his confidence and experience of working on a real business project and this seemed like a good opportunity to achieve those aims. The intention is to publish regular project updates on the blog as well as highlighting areas of special interest such as the sustainability elements of the scheme. We will link those updates to these pages, in the meantime a reminder of where to find the blog….!
