Round in early July

The 7th July dawned slightly damp but in true Amiri fashion broke very quickly to bring wonderful sunshine over the magnificent Downs Course. Grahame Pettit setting off in the first group with Dick Apps of RLF
and Paul Hanvey of Adam Architecture and Andy Corry played with Julian Larkin of C&G Properties and Shawn Lambert of PWP Architects. Julian got off to a spectacular start, with par at the first two holes, the
second hole being memorable for a particularly difficult blind second shot to the green. He then provided the next success for the group with three points at the lengthy par 5 4th. Andy Corry got his second three-pointer, having birdied the first, with a birdie at the 5th. Word of this success must have spread to the lead group as Andy, Julian and Shawn had to take evasive action walking up the 5th fairway as Grahame's errant tee shot from the 6th came within striking distance of them!

The rest of the round passed without major incident, Julian picking up birdies at 12 and 15 and Andy chipping in for a birdie from a greenside bunker at the 10th. Paul made a bid for big points with birdies at 12, 13 and 14 but fell away on the run home. Everyone enjoyed the 19th!
