This multi-phase project tested all of Amiri Constructions skills as we began the process of redeveloping the very well-known former Co-op store that fronts onto this busy, traditional town centre square.
The initial phase was to alter and refurbish the existing ground floor retail space to form shells for two new retail units including provision of services. These were quickly occupied by Laura Ashley and Fat Face.
Phase II and III saw us convert and adapt the existing office space on first and second floors to create 11 self contained flats and the addition of a third floor on the roof creating a further 3 flats. Whilst not a particularly difficult construction exercise we had to minimise disruption to the new retailers on the ground floor and also ensure exceptional health and safety standards to protect members of the public around the building.
Phase IV consisted of the demolition of an existing external storage building and its replacement replaced by 2 flats and 2 cottages.
