Fryer Close, Romsey

Leonard Cheshire Disability are one of the largest providers of supported living and services to the disabled population in the UK. Palmerston House in Romsey was their first high dependency care unit and was a prototype for further schemes across the country.

The scheme saw Amiri Construction design and build two units providing 12 en-suite bed spaces in a two storey building and a further 8 units in a bungalow. Both buildings had nursing stations so that full care could be provided. Track lifts in each room provide safe in-patient transport from bed to en-suite bathroom and there is a full catering specification kitchen serving the patients and staff. With light and airy common rooms and areas and a sympathetic landscaping scheme the project has proven a stunning success with patients, care staff and client alike.
