Elizabeth Foundation

The Elizabeth Foundation is a charitable trust that provides assessment of babies and pre-school aged children for hearing impairment. Once diagnosed it offers support for families and children in order to prepare them for their lives ahead. The success of the Foundation is such that in 2007 a need to provide additional learning space was identified and, with space on site at a premium, a first floor extension over the existing school commissioned. Amiri Construction won a competitive tender to carry out the works.

Sited in the corner of a major hospital serving the Central South Coast area around Portsmouth it was essential that Amiri planned every element of the work to minimise disruption to the hospital as well as the ongoing work that was carried out within the Elizabeth Foundation. We strived to include and educate the children regarding what happens on the site with regular presentations and tours so that they were familiar with the changes that were going on in their young lives.

The success of the project has been realised with Amiri now discussing the next phase of the works, the extension and alterations to the Assessment Centre, scheduled for 2010.
