This prestigeous educational project for Amiri was to construct the new Prideaux Building for Lord Wandsworth college, a building most defintely to be proud of. With 11 new classrooms, 2 dance studios to double as a function room, offices, a careers library and special needs facilities, it provides a fitting new centre piece to the school. The project also included a separate new Porters Lodge.
Designed as a sustainable development there are an array of energy saving features including a large solar panel facilitiy that was already providing sufficient power by the end of 2011 for surplus to be sold to the national grid. Sun pipes are used to provide greater natural light and wind catcher units for natural ventilation. 29 new parking spaces were also created.
It was necessary to keep disruptions to a minimum and understand the concerns and impact of the build on fee paying parents. Despite severe delays caused by the coldest December for 100 years, careful management and use of resources brought the project back on track. Amiri successfully achieved the handover of the building on the original completion date, a crucial piece of timing to coincide with the start of the new school year. The building was officially opened by Sir Humphrey Prideaux OBE DL on 15th September 2011.
